I met her on a hiking trail. She invited me to coffee — we weren’t even friends yet, still in the getting-to-know-you stage. Maybe that’s exactly why her question hit as hard as it did: a stranger who didn’t know my story, who wasn’t talking down to me, just asking like she genuinely wanted me to have my dream life.
She asked me one question that changed everything: what would your life look like if money weren’t the deciding factor? What would it feel like?
I’d never let myself imagine it. When I finally did — debt-free, starting a family, traveling more — I cried.
That’s when I realized: I stopped allowing myself to dream. At some point, I stopped believing that the life I longed for was possible. I didn’t know how to make it happen.
Then she shared network marketing with me. She taught me how it actually works — she taught me the system, rather than selling me a product. I could never thank her enough for introducing me to it.
I found Young Living through a patient at the naturopathic clinic where I worked. My husband and I researched everything — we wanted products we’d actually trust around our future kids, and a business we could build with real, honest effort. We got started, and in our first four months, we earned an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii.
Then 2020 happened, and life got loud. I stepped away for almost five years — no time, no energy, barely any effort. And I still got paid, every single month. That’s residual income. That’s the whole point.
Now I’m back — married to my best friend, home with our two babies, living the life I once only let myself imagine for a few minutes at a coffee shop. I’m picking up right where I left off, in the small pockets of time a toddler and a one-year-old actually give me.
Understanding how this works is everything. You don’t need hours a day — you need to see the possibility, and help a few other people see it too.
